Firsts

So this is a little late, but yes,
IAN turned ONE!
We had a party out at the house with grandmas, grandpas, aunts, and cousins. Mostly, Ian had no idea what was going on, but was excited to play with everyone and all the toys...well, the boxes and wrapping paper, at least.

I decided to get ambitious and make a themed cake. The humidity wreaked some havoc with the structure, but it was still a tasty dessert.

Ian was especially overjoyed to discover that he was allowed to eat the entire engine himself, with his hands no less. He spent the next few hours in a sugar coma.

Ian also had his first haircut a couple weeks ago. He was considerably less than amused, but Daddy said the shag had to go. Not even a popsicle bribe helped.

Also, we had our twenty week ultrasound.
ITS A BOY!!
Mamaw and Papaw so wanted a girl, but sorry this one has a kickstand too.
Maybe next time.

Family

Just in case you didn't catch this on the ten other family blogs...
The Merrill/Brown/Grafs in a picture together since who knows when.

All of the adults are smiling, but none of the children are...Hmmm.
It really was a wonderful day.

Gone Fishin'

We spent an evening last weekend fishing with Mamaw and Papaw Graf.
The Bub was fascinated by the teeny-tiny bullfrog
and the reel mechanism on the fishing pole...

then he decided he would rather play in (and eat!) the sand at the beach.

And here the Bub is this morning playing on my mother's day present...

Derick understands my passion for high thread count sheets.
1000 threads feel like butter.
(Everything was on clearance, which is why I love him)
And he came home with a goose down comforter too, clearance-priced at $15!
As you can see he couldn't wait for Sunday.

What have we been up to?

Derick has had to pull the motor on the Geo due to a cracked head. I have no idea what that means, but I am glad to have married such a handy man. So, we have been down to one vehicle, which isn't really a hardship in the grand scheme of things, but it has put a cramp in Mommy's and Ian's outings.

And I suppose I should go ahead and announce it here now...
I have been a little under the weather with "morning" sickness (that never actually came in the morning.) So yes, Bun #2 should arrive mid-October

We have also been growing other things this spring...

Flowers
Vegetable plants
and 36 Chickens!

Ian has recently discovered a love for dirt and tractors...

Okay so he does not really like laundry, but who does?

And here is it is our one an only Family Photo session
(This is my favorite of myself)

more tractors...

more dirt...

and we love to help Daddy.

its good to be 10 (months)

We are definitely excited for spring in the Graf house.
Bring on the garden planting and the lawn mowing...
also, the trips to the park.

We have recently redicovered the joy of swinging.
(alright so this picture doesn't show it, but he really is having a good time)

Chaos is Ian's current rule for life.
Every bag, basket, and bookshelf must be emptied.

We must also be in constant motion...

teeth, snot, and jury duty

maybe this sounds a little pessimistic...
Ian did actually get his two from teeth for Christmas.
Then, we all shared the nasty cold with the entire extended family.
Then, I was summoned for jury duty.
Then, just this morning, one of the dogs felt the need to vomit three time, each on a different rug.
Oh well, life is like that sometimes.

And then, the sunshine peeks through the rainclouds...

and there is always chocolate!
